Remembering “The Golden Rocket”

The Hall of Famer, legend, The Golden Rocket, Bobby Hull passed away on Monday, Jan 30^th, at age 84. Known for his blonde locks and his lightning-fast slap shot, Hull was a glimmer of hope for the Chicago Blackhawks when he joined back in 1957. Upon joining the team, he went on to become the franchise’s top scorer and one of the greatest hockey players of all time.

From leading the Blackhawks to their 3^rd Stanley Cup in 1961 to entertaining Chicago for 15 consecutive seasons, Hull created memories to last a lifetime. Throughout his professional hockey career, he played 1,063 regular season games, scored 610 goals, and had 650 assists, totaling 1,170 career points, but his legacy extended outside of the rink.

After hanging up his skates in 1980, Hull’s number 9 jersey was retired by the Blackhawks and the Jets. He then continued to serve as an ambassador for the Blackhawks until they parted ways in the 2021-22 season. The Golden Rocket has hung up his skates for the last time, but his legacy will forever live on.
