NCC Students: Join WONC Today

If you’re a student at North Central College, you NEED to join WONC! Whether you’re interesting in a career in radio broadcasting or you just want to have some fun, there’s something for everyone here. Our staff is comprised of students with all kinds of majors, not just Journalism and Media Studies; this means that any NCC student can join, regardless of their major or minor.

WONC plays a blend of alternative, active, and classic rock. Newscasts, sportscasts, and traffic reports are delivered by students like you throughout the day. WONC is also the exclusive radio home for all North Central College football, basketball, baseball and softball home games. At specific times, you’ll also hear specialty music shows, sports talk shows, pop culture talk shows, as well as educational and public affairs programs.

Unlike other college radio stations where you may have to wait until your junior or senior year to get on the air, WONC often has a new student behind the microphone on the second day of classes!

To join WONC and become part of a North Central College tradition, sign up for MEDI 117 Radio Practicum in Merlin for 0 or 1 credit. We meet on Mondays at 4pm in Goldspohn 20. If you’re not totally sure about joining but you want to check us out, feel free to come to a meeting.
