Greg Williams

In his time at WONC, Greg was a force in the WONC Sports Department. Starting as a color commentator for football, he soon took on the role of play-by-play for almost all NCC football games, and covered baseball, softball, and men’s and women’s basketball games.In December of 2019, Greg called NCC football’s first national championship, as they defeated UW-Whitewater in the Stagg Bowl, 41-14. He also hosted From the Upper Deck on Sunday Nights, sharpening his skills as a sports talk host. Greg also served as WONC’s Sports Director from late 2018 to early 2021.

Greg’s efforts on the air translated into national recognition, as he earned the Intercollegiate Broadcasting Systems Award for Best Baseball Play-by-play in 2019 and 2020, and he was a finalist for Best Sports Director in 2019.

After graduation, Greg covered high school athletics and Wichita State Men’s Basketball in Kansas for USA Today, and a year later moved to Arizona to live near his family. He’s currently working as a communication specialist in Phoenix at a construction company and seeking opportunities in sports journalism.
